Interstates behavioral based safety program focuses on building a culture of safety at Interstates. We continually build up both our people and our culture with our I-Coaching system to observe and provide coaching interactions with employees. Our crews start each day with Pre Job Hazard Analysis and integrate them in their daily planning through "Daily Huddles". This keeps safety an integrated part of doing great work in the field.

Safety industry consultants have rated Interstates’ underlying safety culture in the 95th percentile of their client database.

The Interstates Environmental Safety and Health Program (EHSP) meets or exceeds all requirements as outlined by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). It has also been reviewed and approved by some of the most safety conscious clients involved in Industrial Construction.

At Interstates, we use safety attitude and performance as criteria for field employee evaluations as well as a rating system for our superintendents and foremen during performance reviews.

Interstates has an authorized OSHA outreach trainer and dedicated safety staff that makes certain job sites are inspected regularily, that weekly safety meetings are held, that effective specialized training is accessible and is conducted to support project needs. Most importantly, that the safety culture we have built continues to grow stronger as we add staff.
